Le Nouveau Locataire

Today I saw the Parisian apartment of my dreams. It was big, it was bright, there was balcony, there was an elevator and it was in a clean safe area. Oh and the guy that is renting it out was very nice and friendly and included in the rent is a cleaning man that comes three times a week (an upgrade from my bi-monthly cleaning woman in New York) and is a much needed necessity when living with three men.

The only downside is that I would be paying my entire salary in rent and I would be eligible for CAF assistance because the landlord refuses to add anyone else to the lease. While I am somewhat willing to pay that much for an apartment here in Paris I was banking on the idea of being able to get some money back from CAF assistance. If that's not possible I will have to bust my butt finding side jobs such as tutoring or babysitting some little brats (this is meant entirely as a joke and purely for entertainment purposes only to any future/current employers reading this post). So for the time being I will continue my search but will consider the apartment that I saw this morning.

*Anyone that has taken the beginner course in French at the Alliance Francaise will understand the post title.

I took the beginner course at the Alliance, but I don't understand...

Maybe it was because I took that course in 1981. You can call me a geezer.

I took the beginner course too and am confused, hehe.

That sucks about the apartment. Oh well, keep on! You'll find the middle ground soon enough!

Oh no maybe I need to modify the title or the footnote. Basically, I took the beginning class 2 years ago and the first lesson in the sucky Reflets book was called "Le Nouveau Locataire". The textbook came with a cd that had the audio dialog of each lesson included and that's one of the few lessons titles that I remember along with "Jour de Greve".

The things I remember :)

I knew what you meant! I did the Reflets book although not right from the beginning but I remember Benoît and his mates! I've got it hidden in a box here somewhere - I really need to get it out and have a look at it :)

Hope you find something soon :)

Well, there you go. I was at the Alliance in Paris 26 years ago. Before CDs.

Oh man, don't pass up the CAF assistance. There's got to be something out there that won't take all your money or require that you start babysitting little brats...

Have you thought about answering ads for people searching for a roommate??

your flatmate doesn't need to be on the lease. he just need to be listed by the landlord as leaving in the apartment on the CAF form. problem solved
