...kind of.
I haven't recieved my modem yet and my ADSL line is still in progress but I am now able to connect to the internet via a Neuf hotspot from my apartment. This makes me incredibly happy. I would be over the moon happy but I this connection has its limitations as I am unable to connect to my instant messenger program with it.

You can use the web interface for your messenger program and connect that way. Each messenger program has this, just in case you're unable to connect traditionally through the actual IM application, or if you do not have the actual IM application installed on your computer.
Meaning, all you need is an internet connection and a browser (Firefox, Window Explorer, Safari, etc.) to connect to the IM's web interface messenger. You don't even need the actual program installed on your computer, if you didn't want to. It works well and is quite user-friendly. All you need is your login and password. I used it quite frequently when I was in Montpellier sans internet/phone/etc all of that time.
